The automotive service industry has been around for over a century. In all that time, one thing hasn't changed: the customer is expected to trust the process without understanding it. There are certifications for mechanics, training programs for service consultants, and sales playbooks for dealerships. But nothing that prepares the person actually paying the bill.
We saw that gap affecting nearly every driver on the road and built something to close it. Not with tools. Not with parts. With education — plain-language guides and resources that explain how the repair industry actually works, and direct access to an insider who can walk you through your specific situation when you need it most.

About the Founder
I've Been on Every Side of the Counter.
I'm Tim — and cars have been part of my life since before it made sense financially. I've spent thousands of hours under hoods, at the parts counter comparing brands and price points because every dollar counted, building projects on a budget, and putting vehicles through their paces on the track. The enthusiasm never left. It just got more expensive.
On the professional side, I've seen this industry from every angle. Parts stores, independent shops, dealerships. The bulk of my 15+ year career has been as a service consultant — the person sitting across from you, explaining what your car needs and what it's going to cost. Most of those years were spent at Honda dealerships, which means I know that service lane inside and out: the maintenance schedules, the common upsells, and exactly what Honda owners are up against when they walk through that door.
Thousands of conversations. Thousands of estimates. I got good at that job — good for the shop, but more importantly, good for the customer. The advisors who take the time to educate build real trust. The ones who rush people through a repair order are the ones people never go back to.
What kept bothering me was this: I could only help the people who walked into my shop. Millions of drivers were making blind decisions every day — approving work they didn't understand, overpaying on repairs they could've questioned, or skipping maintenance that would've saved them real money. Nobody was teaching them any of this.
So I built 2nd Opinion Automotive.
